Mayor’s Message

When it comes to junior football tournaments, nothing beats the Premier Invitational.

This 10-day tournament is the breeding ground of Australia’s future Socceroos and Matildas and a chance for our city to showcase its facilities and support services to thousands of football supporters.

In 2025, the numbers are incredible: an expected 650 teams, more than 23,000 supporters, 1600 coaches and a huge economic return of millions for the coast.

As Mayor, I applaud Magic United and its five-year strategic plan to develop junior football. The executive at United understands the value of sport from a social, economic and community level and is working to achieve greatness for all young footballers. Through the vision of Magic United FC, the Premier Invitational has come a long way since 2012.

Our City Sports Plan dovetails with United’s vision and we are currently developing more fields for competition and training. It’s an exciting time to be part of sport on the Gold Coast.

I encourage Gold Coasters to get down to the sidelines and cheer on these incredible young athletes and when the action is over, please find time to stay on and burn some more energy at our theme parks, Broadwater marine activities, nature trails and beaches.

Let’s kick off!
