Junior football just got a whole lot more exciting, thanks to the vision of Magic United FC and its Premier Invitational.
This 10-day tournament has evolved over the past 15 years, growing to become the No 1 junior football festival in Australia. The best news is – it’s right here on the magical Gold Coast.
In so many ways, this tournament is the breeding ground of Australia’s future Socceroos and Matildas and a chance for our city to showcase its facilities and support services to thousands of football supporters.
As Mayor, I applaud Magic United and its five-year strategic plan to develop junior football. The executive at United understands the value of sport from a social, economic and community level and is working to achieve greatness for all young footballers.
Our City Sports Plan mirrors the vision of Magic United as we develop more sporting fields, facilities and support services for youth sport across the coast.
My message to everyone here for the Invitational is: celebrate greatness and cheer on these incredible young athletes. At the same time, I applaud officials, sponsors, referees and technical staff who are the driving force behind the Premier Invitational.
When the action is over, please find time to stay on and burn some more energy at our theme parks, Broadwater marine activities, nature trails and beaches.

It’s a pleasure to welcome you to the Premier Invitational, an event that truly captures the character and charm of the Gold Coast.
Supported by the Queensland Government through Homegrown 2025 Round 2 of Tourism and Events Queensland’s Destination Events Program, this event showcases the unique connection between our state’s vibrant communities and the diverse regions they call home.
Events like the Premier Invitational bring people together, celebrate local culture and contribute significantly to the community’s pride and economy.
While you’re here, I encourage you to explore all that the Gold Coast Region has to offer – whether it’s its scenic beauty, local flavours, or the warm hospitality that makes this part of Queensland so special.
